How to Add a Workshop Collection to Your GMod Server

Workshop collections let you group multiple Steam Workshop addons, like maps, models, weapons, or scripts, into a single bundle that your GMod server can load and share with players. Instead of manually installing individual addons or asking players to download them one by one, a collection keeps everything in one place and syncs it automatically when they join.

If you’re running a custom gamemode like DarkRP or Helix, or just want consistent content across your server, using a Workshop collection is the easiest way to manage and distribute required addons. This guide shows you how to set one up, add it to your server, and make sure it loads properly.

Step 1: Create Your Workshop Collection

Before you do anything on the server side, you’ll need to create a collection on the Steam Workshop:

  • Scroll down and click your profile icon and select the Collections tab.

  • Choose Create Collection. Add a title, a branding image, and a short description for your collection. Then choose the type of collection, such as items meant to be used together or items users can choose between. Finally, select the categories that best fit your collection.

  • Add the addons you want to include by searching and clicking Add to Collection.

  • When finished, head back to your Collections tab and then click Publish. Make sure to keep the collection public or unlisted, as private collections won’t load on the server.

Step 2: Copy the Workshop Collection ID

Once published, you’ll see a long URL like this:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=123456789

The number at the end (123456789 in this case) is your Workshop Collection ID. Copy that because you’ll need it later.

Step 3: Log in

Log in to your Nexus Hosting Account.

Step 4: Select the Server

Once on the dashboard, find and select the intended Garry’s Mod server.

Step 5: Add Your Steam Account Token

Click the Startup tab from the sidebar. This is where you’ll find options to add your Workshop collection, Steam Account Token, and other environment variables.

Paste your Workshop Collection ID into the field.

Once it's linked, players who join your server will automatically download the addons in the collection. They’ll see a loading screen while the content syncs, so they won’t need to manually subscribe to anything beforehand.

Step 6: Restart the Server

For the changes to be applied, you need to restart the server by clicking the orange Restart button in the upper right corner.
