How to Change Your GMOD Server Name
Do you want to update the name that shows up in the server browser? That’s controlled by a setting called hostname. It only takes a minute to change, and it’s one of the easiest ways to personalize your GMod server.
You can change the hostname either by editing your server.cfg file or through your hosting provider’s control panel. Nexus Hosting has made this super easy to alter through the Settings tab. Here’s how:
Step 1: Log in
Log in to your Nexus Hosting Account.
Step 2: Select the Server
Once on the dashboard, find and select the intended Garry’s Mod server.
Step 3: Edit Your Hostname in the Settings Panel
Under the Configuration heading, select Settings from the sidebar. You’ll notice a section called Change Server Details. This is the hostname.
Enter your preferred server name to replace the default. You can also add a short description. This might include your server’s rules, gamemode, or community name. When you're done, click Save to apply the changes.
Step 4: Restart the Server
After setting the new server name, scroll back to the top of the panel and click the orange Restart botton to apply the change.
